Psychodynamic Counselling & Psychotherapy

Are you:-

  • struggling emotionally and psychologically?
  • grieving the loss of someone or a relationship?
  • feeling down, depressed or overwhelmed?

Do you keep repeating the same patterns of destructive behaviour, want to understand why and increase your future choices?

Talking therapy

Talking about and exploring your present and past, including your thoughts, feelings, behaviour and any dreams you’ve had, can help you to understand yourself more fully, increase your awareness, improve your emotional life and increase your choices in how you live now and in the future.

Repeating patterns of behaviour

Sometimes we find ourselves repeating patterns of behaviour, which might be positive or negative and which we might or might not be aware of i.e. be unconscious. Psychodynamic counselling or psychotherapy aims to increase our consciousness and self awareness. This increases our choices in whether or not we repeat the same patterns of behaviour or do something different.

Transference

During psychodynamic counselling or psychotherapy we may find ourselves relating to the therapist as we do with other people i.e. like a family member, partner, friend or colleague. This is called “transference” and can be helpful, if shared in the therapy, in gaining a deeper awareness of ourselves.
